The concept for this project is to design an advertising campaign for the Norsk Selskap for Fotografi (Norwegian Society of Photography), focusing on model photography combined with architecture photography. The campaign aims to highlight the importance of professional photography in the face of rising concerns over AI-generated images. The central message of the campaign is to address the shortcomings of AI images and to emphasize the unique value of professional photography.
Challenge
The concept involves creating high-quality, conceptual photographs that feature a model within an architectural setting. Controlling lighting and focus to balance the model and architectural backdrop was difficult due to the different technical needs of each. Combining the model and architecture in a single, cohesive shot required careful attention to depth of field and lighting.
Solution
To address the challenge, I adjusted the camera settings for precise focus and exposure, carefully considering the varying requirements of both the model and the architectural elements. This ensured that both subjects remained sharp and well-lit, ultimately creating a seamless integration of the two in the final shot.
The campaign is centered around creating a visually striking, well-composed image that highlight the skill and artistry of human photographers, contrasting the shortcomings often seen in AI-generated images. I embraced a clean, modern minimalist style, focusing on strong composition and a simple color palette. This image, which was largely shaped by the interplay of light and shadow, highlights the contrast between the model and the structured environment. The combination of the architectural setting and the natural sunlight creates a captivating, dramatic effect. I kept text to a minimum, allowing the image to be the central focus and the primary communicator.
By avoiding excessive digital manipulation, I focused on creating a high-quality, technically sound image that would stand out and convey the core message of the campaign: “Don’t leave it to AI to get the job done.” The minimalist approach not only supports the clarity of the message but also allows the photography to speak for itself, demonstrating the value of professional, human-created images.
